Ed’s Aquatics is devoted to everyone interested in the tropical fish hobby and aquatic biology, including hobbyists, pet store owners, and biology teachers. The menu in the side bar links to articles and booklets on aquarium subjects, single-page handouts for the care of a wide range of pets, monthly columns of free quizzes, tongue-in-cheek adventures in the hobby based on real events, and a few original, but challenging puzzles. Take advantage of a free coloring book for grade school and homeschool kids, or a give away in your pet store.

The Aquarist’s Notebook is a guide to creating your own reference book and journal, which in a few years will be the most valuable and authoritative documentation of keeping, breeding, raising tropical fish or keeping and propagating plants. I inherited the idea from my father, and I’ve kept adding to it through years. I think it may be the single most valuable tool for any beginner who truly wants to master the hobby.

Classroom and homeschool teachers and students will find, in addition, my book, The Simplified Classroom Aquarium. It will guide the teacher through everything from setting up and caring for the simplest and most inexpensive of aquariums; one that will run at room temperatures. The book explains which fish, plants, and ornaments are appropriate, how to understand algae, nitrifying bacteria, protozoans, aquatic fungi, and worms, and how to cultivate them for the classroom demonstrations. In addition, there are instructions on how to design biological experiments, how to do simple water quality testing and analysis, how to treat diseases, and how to make or culture all your own foods.

I hope you enjoy exploring my site.
